My Journey Through Forgiveness
There are many deserving ministries, charities, and causes out there. But there is one in particular that I have been called to serve and become an advocate for, and that is Forgiven Ministry - a ministry whose mission is to meet the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of the children of inmates, the inmates themselves, ex-inmates, and their families with the result of healing wounds inflicted by crime, redirecting lives, and restoring these individuals into the community as productive citizens, parents and family members.
I am now actively involved in this ministry and serving in the One Day With God camps that are being held all over the United States. And I am very excited at this opportunity to use my talents and gifts for His glory, and to get a front row seat into what I call "The God Show" - seeing Him use ordinary people to do extraordinary things. If I had to sum it up in a word, it's about forgiveness. And so begins a new journey for me - one I'm calling "My Journey Through Forgiveness".
I will document my experiences so that you can have a front row seat into the work of the loving arms of the grace-filled God we serve. I will blog the journey, create videos to share their stories, and am working on a book to document the experience. And I will also be attending as many of the camps as I am able.
As an advocate for this ministry, I would ask that you:
1. Pray for it.
2. Check it out - www.forgivenministry.org
3. Serve if you feel led.
4. Host a camp at your church (it is an AMAZING church mission activity).
5. Fund a camp.
6. Contribute money if you feel led.
7. Donate items like gifts for children, toiletries for adults, Bible studies.
8. A combination of any of the above.
The biggest need right now is funding. Every little bit helps - and could mean one more meal - one more child who gets to come - one more healed heart. Thank you for listening. And if you want to follow my journey - sign up for my blog (www.swansonspeaks.com) where the posts will be listed under "Journey Through Forgiveness".
God is good. He heals and He forgives. He reconciles. And His grace is never ending. I hope to always show the same compassion and forgiveness He has shown me.
